General election 2014 – An Appeal

Voting day for Tamilnadu & few other neighboring states are just around the corner and I'm writing this Blog with 3 very specific appeals.

Vote

5 years is a long period of time both for an individual and for the country. Opportunity to vote is a golden one to determine the direction India as country is going to go, so please do not waste it except for some unavoidable circumstances. Given the amount of ranting I do in my Facebook wall, I feel ashamed that I'm not going to vote this time & sorry for that (Not having the luxury of time to visit India). To compensate, I thought I should at the least spend little bit of time and reach out to all my friends to ask them to vote. In case, if you also cannot vote this election due to some unavoidable circumstances, spend a little bit of your time to make sure you appeal to your family and friends to go out and vote.

We all know politics is dirty, but don't make it a reason to not vote. Almost all of us don't have the time/money/power etc., to join politics and cleanse it. That leaves us with voting as one of the very few avenues to change the system. I would like to quote Jayaprakash Naryanan of Lok Satta here to emphasize the same and stop.

Choose your candidate

Before I started writing this, I thought I should stop after appealing to not vote a set of political parties like I did during assembly election. But given the poor way in which the country was "misRULED" (not Governed) I would like to go a step further. #Teekhai J

Communist/Congress/AAP        

       Less we talk about these 3 parties, it is better for health of each and every one of us & the nation and it saves our precious time as well! Each of them is a clone of the other in one way or the other that doesn't believe in the process of democracy at all. All 3 of them hopefully will stand irrelevant post this General election

Congress represents everything that is wrong in a democracy and it is a sad that this Nehru dynasty is allowed to continue RULING us for 4 generations. This dynasty should be packed for good to Italy, wishful thinking will be to be packed for prison. Let's pray that great event happens in the near future. 

So do not even think about voting these 3 useless parties in this general election and that by itself is a right step for the country. 

DMK+

       This family enterprise is again a clone of Congress with a TN flavour added to it. Just like the way how this party was dumped to third place in assembly election by voters, the same should happen again in the general election as well. Traditional vote bank of DMK is in the decline and few informed voters not choosing to vote this party even if some credible candidate is representing the party will once again give us the desired result in the general election as well. Please ensure this party is decimated for good in TN forever

ADMK+

       This one woman show party is over hyped for its administrative capabilities and is a match to DMK in every crooked way. As they famously say, JJ is a Saree clad MK & MK is a Dhoti clad JJ. Distinct difference between these two Dravidian is, MK is a cunning old fox, who does politics in everything. He and his clan will cheat like inserting needle in a banana. 2G is an aberration to their skills. JJ is an accidental politician who doesn't have the polishness of MK clan, but well known for her at your face foolish decisions at the wrong time. To put it in TASMAC language, both JJ & MK are the same wine in a different bottle. Given the head weight of this lady to not align with any national party with a presence in just one state with a poor track record to show, she deserves to be defeated. 

NDA+

       After the arrival of the Dravidian parties into the political scene, almost all the elections happened in TN has been a bi-polar contest with no credible alternative be it state or general elections. Whichever third party that presented itself as an alternative to these 2 Dravidian parties was neither been this formidable nor they were credible alternative in the past, not in the lifetime of most of us and even our parents. It is with this context of political history of TN in mind anyone should weigh this coalition. Voting to this coalition is beneficial for the welfare of both state and center in many ways. Let me list 3 advantages of voting this coalition. 

1. Mark the real beginning of the end of DMK/ADMK dominance in TN.

2. If not the end, it would be a rude awakening to these parties that people should not be taken for granted

3. Reduce the possibility of any fractured mandate at the center

Ideologically all these parties are totally different and may not be the best, but they all have come together to defeat the bigger evils in the form of JJ & MK. It is an historic opportunity, so please consider voting for this alliance in your constituency. 

Discuss your Choice with elders in your family

       One of the major backbone of the Dravidian parties in TN is actually the all weather supporters in the form of elders in our family. Come what may, most of them will not even have any second thoughts to go out and vote for the DMK/ADMK religiously like they have done for last 20+ years. Based on my interaction both with my parents and other friend's parents, I believe one of the toughest thing to do is to convince them to vote to other parties other than their traditional party. Please make sure you spend time with them, discuss the pros/cons and make sure you convince them to vote to NDA+. When this vote bank of the Dravidian parties are broken, the reality of NaMo wave will dawn in Tamilnadu as well. 

Politics is a winner takes all game and one of the toughest. Let's make sure we kick out the wrong ones from power in 2014. All the best! Vote for India !!
