Dravidian Politics – The History
If we
take past 50 years as a reference and right from the time independent India’s
children started voting, TN electoral scene is a story of complete domination
of Dravidian brand of politics. Dravidar Kazhagam (DK) in brief has its roots
with E.V.Ramasamy (not ‘Periyar’) starting this organization for social
equality. Due to various property dispute within DK, a virulent political
version came in to existence which we famously know today as Dravidar Murpokku
Kazhagam (DMK). To counter popularity of Kamarajar, DMK had leaders like
Annadurai and Karunanidhi who are very good script writers and great orators.
Post Annadurai’s death, M.Karunanidhi (MK) captured DMK for good. The popularity
of ‘actor’ M.G.Ramachandran and power tussle within DMK resulted in birth of
Anna Dravidar Murpokku Kazhagam (ADMK). After his demise was captured by
another actor J.Jayalalitha (JJ). To consolidate MK base as well as to secure
the wealth for his family members in DMK, MK kicked out then popular leader in
the party V.Gopalsamy, giving birth to Marumalarchi Dravidar Murpokku Kazhagam
(MDMK). DK had its roots in secession with the country India, but for some
funny reason we have one more ‘actor’ turned politician Vijaykanth starting the
party Desiya Murpokku Dravidar Kazhagam (DMDK) due to popularity of this
Dravidian brand of politics.
Dravidian Ideology – The Flaw & a Failure
Right
from its inception, instead of rightly diagnosing the caste inequalities in the
society to 1881 population survey classification by British and related
benefits enjoyed by various communities by this classification, Dravidian
ideology right from its start has done a complete misdiagnosis. They have
perpetuated the false and scientifically disproven Aryan-Dravidian invasion
theory today interestingly it’s a migration theory. They have created a false
villain on a numerically small community ‘Brahmins’ to target and oppressed
them to the core. Presenting atheism as an alternative solution for caste
inequalities Dravidam has poured vitriol into Hinduism and made it a bad word.
But simultaneously cajoled with Christianity and Islam which for some reason is
not a foreign invasion for Dravidam. With this fatal flaw and 50 years of
colossal failure to rectify the caste inequalities we will look into
electoral politics of today and analyze the options available.
DMK+Congress
DMK
along with Congress is one of the worst options available. These 2 parties
together in this state and country respectively are responsible for dynastic
politics, poor infrastructure, abysmal growth, divided society on caste and
religious lines, money power in election, crony capitalism, poor education and
medical facilities you name it. Both these parties are in terminal decline and
choosing them is equivalent giving lifeline to the person who is hell bent to
kill you. A state with young population to be led by 92+ year old MK who can’t
even lift his own hands is a strict NO.
ADMK+
This
offshoot of DMK is in no way better than its sister organization. With the
added qualification of being a slave queen this party has nothing to offer to
ordinary citizens. Even a central minister can’t get access to the CM, what
good are these party people going to do for common man? With zero track record
to boost to get the votes, with administrative machinery in standstill, with
poor law&order scenario and TASMAC revenue to run the government ADMK with
always ill JJ when it comes to administrative duties is most certainly an
option to avoid. Ever wondered what happened to land grabbing cases this govt
filed against previous DMK regime?!
Both these parties are nothing short of Congress in
rewriting our rich history by renaming every other scheme in the name of Anna.
Don’t we have a rich history of people to celebrate in various fields? Why we
don’t have schemes in the name of Bharathiyar, Bharathi dasan, V.O.C,
Kattabomman, Ramanujam, etc,.
DMDK+MDMK+Communist
This
coalition of jokers don’t even have a common agenda to start with. Less we talk
about them better it is for all of us. DMDK with Vijaykanth is not even a
physically fit option to consider. He has nothing to show case as his
achievement while sitting as opposition leader in the assembly. MDMK with Vaiko
is good blabbering in public speeches. Even the people in stage are falling
asleep while he talks. With Dravidian tag and flaw associated with them it is
time for the electorate to start thinking beyond parties with Dravidian tag.
Communists are not fit to be considered as an option in electoral democracy. If
you think communist are better I strongly urge you to read history of communist
violence both with in India or in other world countries.
Naam Thamizhar Katchi
90
years before E.V.Ramasamy diagnosed Aryan and Brahmin wrongly as the root cause
of all social inequalities. Seeman of NTK is trying to do the same by whipping
the emotions of people and creating the villain out of non-tamil speaking
minority people in a state which was created with people who spoke tamil as
linguistic majority. He is repeating same words of the great man Nammazhvar
(agriculture specialist) but with added emotions. Falling for emotional
speeches of actor turned politician probably seem to be bane for many Tamil
speaking people. It is time we see through his guy’s divisive agenda along with
his efforts in supporting secession of separate country for Tamils or Azad
Kashmir etc,. Only laudable point for ‘actor’ Seeman I would say is he has
blown open the false high pedestal of E.V.Ramasamy enjoys in Tamilnadu due to
Dravidian politics.
BJP
One of
the two parties who are doing positive electoral campaign in TN today. The
party leadership in the state is very weak and timid to criticize Dravidian
parties. Some of their electoral promises are really good but the central
leadership in the party should invest more with a strong leader, they could be
a potential in future. But they are most certainly a better option to consider
when we compare with the first 4 alternatives discussed.
PMK
Second
party in fray to do positive campaign this time is PMK. They have stuck with
their decision to not align with DMK or ADMK for the past 4 years. Given one
week is a long time is a long time, they have stayed put with their words. On top
of it with a physically fit, qualified CM candidate with good governance
record, PMK is the only party who is doing a lot of changes to campaigning
style and changing the focus away from freebies, TASMAC etc,. Yes this party has
some history with previous leadership but they have acknowledged and moved to a
different style of politics this time. Which is very rare and given we have
tolerated mis-governance of DMK and ADMK for 50 LONG years. It is harsh to
judge them for their past mistakes and encourage either BJP or PMK this time
for change instead of rotting with mis-rule of Dravidian parties
